The Centre of International Affairs

The Centre for International Affairs at Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang is the university’s official gateway to international collaboration. The centre coordinates a wide range of global initiatives including academic partnerships, student and faculty mobility programs, international research, and services for foreign students and visiting scholars.

As Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang grows as a nationally recognized institution rooted in the rich culture of the Minangkabau, the centre plays a vital role in bridging local artistic heritage with global perspectives.

History

The Centre for International Affairs at Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang was established in response to the growing need for international engagement in the arts and higher education. As Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang gained recognition for its unique cultural and academic strengths, interest from international students, researchers, and partner institutions began to increase.

Initially focused on supporting a small number of visiting artists and students from Southeast Asia and Europe, the centre gradually expanded its role to assist with immigration processes, academic coordination, and cultural adaptation. Over time, the office has grown into a key liaison between Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang and global institutions, facilitating cross-border collaborations, student and faculty exchanges, and communication with national stakeholders such as the Directorate General of Higher Education and the Indonesian Immigration Office.

Today, the centre serves as a strategic hub bridging Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang’s local cultural identity with global opportunities in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, design, and cultural studies.
